Description
Cutter yachts like this are a rarity, and in the condition that the 'Schollevaer' is in, they are probably not to be found. Everything breathes the classic beauty of a wooden ship and the traditional craftsmanship that yacht builder Brandsma has made world-famous. The well-maintained Colin Archer design is very suitable for adventurous overseas trips. Sailing on large water, the 'Schollevaer' is in its element, and with the excellent rigging, it is pure enjoyment. But sailing 'under motor' is no punishment either. The recent Vetus Deutz of 85hp knows how to handle it.
Our comments
- The current third owner purchased the ship less than two years ago through us but unfortunately has to sell again due to circumstances. Since we took beautiful photos at that time, we are using them again. At the end of the photo presentation, the exterior photos from April 1, 2024, are included. The interior is still exactly the same as two years ago.
- Although we always inspect ships very thoroughly, we could not find any defects. Everything is in particularly good -and working- condition.
- Of course, a wooden ship requires more maintenance than an average boat. There has certainly been no saving on that. In 2011, the ship was at the yard at Brandsma in Rohel, and all the rubber work of the hull and superstructure was renewed. In addition, the caulking was checked and repaired if necessary. In 2021, the underwater ship was thoroughly worked on. Where necessary, new primer was applied and then fully antifouled. The antifouling was also done again in 2023. In February 2022, the paintwork of the superstructure was renewed, and in 2023, the hull. The paintwork of the exterior (except for the superstructure and hull) is now due for a service.
- In recent years, the boat has also been equipped with a new drive, autopilot, plotter, refrigerator, batteries, genoa, rigging, halyards, and roller jib. The rest of the sails have all been found to be in order by Zeilmakerij Molenaar.
- If the ship is not on the way, it is moored in Marina Schokkerstrand in the summer. That mooring place can possibly be taken over. Seriously interested parties can view 'Schollevaer' by appointment, accompanied by the broker there. Wintering takes place in a shiphouse of Jachthaven De Kranerweerd in Zwartsluis.
