Description
Step aboard the iconic Whitby 42. A seaworthy ketch designed by Edward Brewer. Beloved by world sailors, this yacht combines reliability, comfort and performance. Built with long-distance cruising and independent living in mind, this vessel is a rare opportunity for those who dream of far-flung destinations.
The Whitby 42 is 12,8 metres long, has a beam of 4 metres and a relatively shallow draft of 1,75 metres, making her equally at home on ocean routes as in shallower coastal waters. This vessel is fitted with a full keel for extra stability. With her ketch rig she sails controlled and balanced, even in rough conditions.
The interior offers everything you need for comfortable trips. The owner's cabin is located at the back and can be reached via a passage from the saloon, but also has a separate entrance from the cockpit, which provides extra privacy. There is also a cozy saloon, a practical galley with oven, refrigerator and the necessary storage space, and a separate navigation corner. There are a total of two cabins and two toilets, one of which has a shower facility. This ship is surprisingly spacious and offers sufficient storage space for life on board or long journeys. Or you can just enjoy the outdoors. The cockpit is particularly spacious and is protected from the elements by a fixed spray hood. Ideal when the weather is not so nice, but certainly also nice on warm days to be able to find some shade.
The engine is 80hp Ford Lehman diesel and the bow thruster makes manoeuvring easy. With a fuel capacity of approximately 500 litres and water tanks of approximately 850 litres she is excellently equipped for longer crossings without being dependent on frequent stops.
In terms of navigation, this Whitby is of course equipped with the necessary equipment, including a chart plotter, marine radio and radar. On deck you will find an electric anchor winch, solid rigging and safe gangways. There are even solar panels and to be energy independent.
The Whitby 42 is robust, forgiving and built for true seafaring life, yet she offers the charm and comfort of a floating home, with character and warmth in every detail.
Whether you dream of an Atlantic crossing, a round the world or just long summers on the water, this Whitby 42 is ready for it.
