Boat Details
Description
The steel ship offered here was built as a tugboat for the Hamburg port and was in service there until 1955. It then served the Berlin Port and Warehouse Company until 1990. Harbor tugs like Pit play a crucial role in shipping, as they safely maneuver large cargo ships, tankers, and cruise ships through the narrow areas of ports and assist with docking, undocking, and turning. After its well-deserved retirement, Pit came into the hands of capable enthusiasts who lovingly restored it and converted it into a cozy excursion boat. Its appearance now only hints at its industrious past, which is almost overshadowed by its nostalgic retro charm. However, the 4-cylinder diesel engine from Mercedes Benz reveals its true calling. Here, 12 liters of displacement act through a hydraulic transmission on a propeller with a diameter of 1.10 m.
Thanks to good care and regular maintenance, the tugboat is in impeccable condition. In 2026, a complete repainting was carried out. Last year, the underwater hull was renewed, and this year the stuffing box on the drive shaft was replaced.
We are happy to answer your questions about the boat or introduce you to "Pit" in person during a visit. We look forward to hearing from you!
