Owner Comments
'Samharcin an Iar' (Irish Gaelic - 'Primrose of the West') has provided my family and I with a solid, well-founded vessel to allow both open sea crossings, as well as bringing her up from the Mediterrean to the UK , through the French canals. In the past year or so, I have undertaken an extensive re-fit including renewal of all electric cables to mast-head fittings, complete preparation and professional painting of hull and deck surfaces. The craft now looks considerably 'younger' than her years. She is an ideal cruising and passage making craft, with all sail control lines coming aft to the Cockpit. The basics are there and, in many cases where the timber elements are exposed, purely a 'rub down and varnish' programme.

Items already fitted or included:

- new port lights fitted throughout

- new VHF aerial/wind direction indicator

- new tricolour/anchor combination light

- new steaming light/deck lights and cable fitted

- the necessary preparation and professional application of marine paints to both hull and superstructure.
Broker Comments
The Westerly Solway 36 yachts were introduced in 1974 together with her 'sister-ships' the Conway, the Galway and the Medway. Variants included centre and aft Cockpits, Ketch or Sloop rigs and either full (long) keel or bilge keel configuration. This Solway has recently undergone an extensive external re-fit (See Headings) and is now ready for the next stage. The Broker has notes on the condition of the craft as well as a list of the equipment, etc. being included or available. It does not, however, include a full survey. Lying on tidal moorings with the Broker, where lifting and 'blocking off' for survey can take place.
