About

This Hurley 9.5 Motor Sailor is a very solidly built centre cockpit ketch with an improved rigid wheelshelter, long keel with Bilge Plates, so ideal for drying moorings. With 4 generous berths in 2 cabins, this 9.5 is best described as a part finished project although this description does not really do her justice. In the past 18 months she has had an extensive works completed, including refurbishing & servicing her engine, new doghouse ceiling, new batteries, new coupling, prop polished & new anodes. Her hull was stripped back to the epoxy coating, re-painted & above the waterline polished & her sails have been laundered and stored ashore. She was then surveyed followed by a re-launch in late 2017. At some point in her life, she has been completely re-wired and has smart well labelled switch panelling, although her electrics will need tracing & finishing. Furthermore, she has been fitted with a sidepower Bow Thruster which is professionally installed and works well. Sadly her current Owner is unable to finish her, hence why she is being sold at such a low price, but Caraventure offers fantastic value She is currently lying Southampton.

Brokers Comments
This Hurley 9.5 Motorsailor really is a boat with a huge amount of character & a lot to offer her new Owner. With 4 berths including 2 in the dedicated aft cabin, a very spacious comfortable saloon with wood panelling throughout & a comfy U shaped sofa, galley with gas cooker ( not currently connected ), sink, fridge and cupboards & heads with toilet & sink with shower attachment. This is complimented by a part covered wheelhouse with Canvass cover for full protection between the forward & aft cabins with helm & access to her Perkins 48 HP engine. Originally taken on as a project by her current Owner, he sadly no longer has the time to complete it. However a huge amount of the heavy & expensive work has already been done & she is back on the water with a good serviceable working engine meaning she is capable of being sailed or motored away under her own steam. The work completed is extensive and incudes new batteries, a hull strip, new shaft coupling, refurbished prop, laundered & repaired sails, new doghouse ceiling & extensive work on the engine including painting & much much more. In addition, she was already a very well designed & equipped boat benefitting from a traditional long keel with twin Bilge Plates all encapsulated to the hull meaning she is ideally suited for drying or mud berths & she even has a recently fitted Side Power Bow Thruster that helps enormously with close quarter manoeuvring. Although currently afloat and able to sail or motor totally under her own steam, she does require finishing in the area of electrics, Heads & Galley plumbing & fitting & general cosmetic tidying, hence her very low asking price and description as a part finished project. However, this is by no means a wreck of a boat & could be finished without too much work and time. She would make a great liveaboard or a very solid cruiser for travelling further afield. Currently afloat in Southampton with the Owner willing to look at offers on the asking price
