The Contessa 32 needs no introduction, her formidable reputation for seaworthiness has been tried and tested by some of the most rugged of long-distance sailors. She is a small but true blue-water cruiser! Gigi is one of the most well-known Contessa 32’s built having been the star of “Cape Horn to Starboard” written by American adventurer, author and sailor John Kretchmer. Built by Jeremy Rogers Yachts in Lymington, Gigi’s first owner planned serious offshore sailing, to include rounding Cape Horn to retrace the route of Clipper ships sailing from New York to San Francisco. John Completed that trip with the first owner in 1984. The Rogers family found Gigi some years later in Texas and transported her back to Lymington where she underwent a total refurbishment in 2007-8 and was then sailed by the Rogers Family having been shown at the London Boat Show. “Gigi” won the Contessa 32 National Championships in 2008 and 2009 with Jeremy at the helm. In 2009 her IRC rating was 0.856. The current owner has enjoyed sailing “Gigi” in France, England and Scotland. She has been kept in the best possible condition but is now waiting for a new owner who will appreciate this important piece of Contessa and sailing history.
