The program that Mike Bellamy wrote many years ago do perform many useful tasks associated with engines, gearboxes, shafting and propellers has now been updated to run on 64-bit machines on Windows 7 and Windows 8.
This program produces boat speed fuel burn and thrust/bollard pull figures, calculates input and output torques and power to weight ratio, propeller thrust and bollard pull, and estimated fuel consumption, and makes recommendations for diameter and pitch of propeller, number of blades, blade shape, blade area ratio, shaft material, diameter and bearing spacing. In the case of high speed catamarans it even works out the aerodynamic lift under the tunnel and adjusts the speed calculation accordingly.
The program version for machines running Windows XP and older systems is priced at £20.00, and the one for Windows Vista and Windows 7 is £35.00.
The programs can be sent as Email attachments to many addresses, but in the event that the local ISP blocks it we can put it onto a memory stick to go by snail mail.
Both versions are generally available for prompt dispatch against debit/credit card.
