Mulder Design’s 115m superyacht concept solves helicopter headache

Dutch yacht and naval architecture group Mulder Design unveiled an inspirational project at the recent Monaco Yacht Show - a 115m concept superyacht, which takes yacht design to dizzyingly new heights of cool. It also solves a problem few of us have ever lost sleep over – where to stow the helicopter once you’ve arrived at sea?

The team at Mulder wanted to create an elegant yacht with a powerful and dynamic profile, and as these conceptual images show this has been achieved in spades. With fluid contours and the sleekest of silhouettes, this superyacht has been specifically designed to create space for helicopter landing and onboard storage.

Onboard helicopter storage

So there is a helicopter landing pad on the foredeck, which is served by a hangar where it can be stowed in the deck below. This makes long distance crossings possible without the need of leaving the helicopter ashore, says Mulder.

Another selling point for the superyacht set is the expansive ‘beach lounge’ located at water level in the stern of the vessel – measuring a massive 18 by 8 metres. This area is illuminated by natural light reaching the lounge from above, through a skylight in the bottom of a swimming pool placed on main deck aft.
