Video and images: Opening Day Highlights of London Boat Show 2016

Bringing much needed cheer to a wet and windy New Year, the prestigious London Boat Show opened its doors on Friday 8th January. This world-renowned event is a celebration of leisure and competitive boating and this year the underlying theme is Where adventure starts, pioneers meet and innovation shines.

Certainly day one and the first weekend of the 10-day show lived up to this brief. Celebrities Lucy Watson and Hugh Bonneville mingled with the public to kick off proceedings and upbeat singers The Overtones delivered a party atmosphere on Friday.

Visitors have the opportunity to explore the very best of the marine sector from chandlery and the latest electronics, to the most incredible yachts and motorboats. On Friday evening Ancasta presided over the UK launch of the Prestige 680, the newest luxury motor yacht from Prestige. French brand Prestige is the fastest growing motorboat brand in the world. With the demise of the Fairline name, the motorboat brand 'Big Three' is now not made up solely of British brands. 

 

Visitors to the show can try out Kayaking and Standup paddleboarding at the Mediterranean Bay activity zone.

 

Princess Yachts celebrate their 50th anniversary at the London Boat Show, with the restored 1965 boat Charlotte aka [email protected] generating much interest from fans of the iconic Princess brand. 

 

Peter Gordon of Rockley Watersports celebrates 40 years of business.
