Launched in December 2019, Flying Kiwi still presents in “Boat Show” condition. With low usage since commissioning in 2020, just before Covid lockdowns, all equipment has since been religiously maintained.
This Balance 451 was designed as a performance cruiser with manageable rig and large square-top mainsail with three-point single line reefing. The self-tacking jib is accompanied by a furling screecher on a carbon-fibre bow sprit and 127m2 Spinnaker for off-wind and downwind performance.
Flying Kiwi displays exceptional light-wind performance and equally stable and exhilarating heavy-wind sailing with a tall Selden alloy rig, quality Selden Furlex furling systems and Lewmar winches. The foam-core composite construction with carbon reinforcement results in a super-strong and light vessel, providing the perfect fast cruising catamaran.
All electrical and electronic equipment is high quality and state-of-the-art, from the professionally installed Mastervolt 24vlt Lithium Ion - 10kW battery system, Mastervolt 3.5kW inverter charger and solar management systems through to the premium Raymarine integrated nav systems.
Included are the Spectra watermaker, Next Gen generator, Dometic aircon in saloon and master cabin, dive compressor and Webber BBQ in a handy storage cupboard.
The Yamnar diesel 40hp ‘Common Rail’ engines, both with around 500hrs, and Racor fuel filter and polishing systems are kept in perfect condition in a clean and uncluttered working area. Easy, safe, accessed from the aft deck areas.
Complementing this stunning Roger Hill designed performance catamaran are the signature wave-piercing bows, sleek lines and retractable dagger boats (with mini keels). The second last build to come out of the Lee Xiangong factory in China, and unlike others on market, Flying Kiwi is the total package and one of the best performance 45ft cruisers available.
