Alamshar was built by Devonport Yachts at the Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, England. Naval Architects and initial designers were Donald L. Blount and Associates (DLBA) of Chesapeake Virginia USA, with development of the detailed designs by Devonport Royal Dockyard Limited with a world-class build team and outfitted by RWD & Oldenburger.

Alamshar is powered by three Pratt & Whitney ST40M gas turbines and two Rolls Royce 601-KF11 gas turbines in a Combination of Gas Turbine and Gas Turbine (COGAG) arrangement, which drive three transom mounted Kamewa S112-3 waterjets via three Renk reduction gearboxes. Each waterjet can be driven by 2 gas turbines on each shaft. Each ST40M gas turbine is rated for 4,086 kW. They are considered the cruise engines and will propel the vessel at speeds of up to 35 knots. The ST40M gas turbines are also used for maneuvering, entering and leaving harbour. The 601-KF11 gas turbines are rated at 7,119 kW each and are considered boost engines. They are used once Alamshar has cleared the harbour and it is safe to travel at high speed. The total power capacity is 26,496 kW.

Alamshar is a mono hull, double chine, high speed pleasure yacht of 49.9 metres length overall having a beam of 11.2 metres with accommodation for 12 guests (including the owner) and 11 crew. It is capable of speeds in excess of 45 knots. Alamshar was built to Cayman Islands as a Class XII Pleasure Yacht and is currently flaged under the Portuguese registry. The hull is constructed of welded marine grade aluminium; the superstructure is of carbon fiber composite construction.
