RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

• Nautor GRP built hull, deck, and structure as original.
• Oyster white gelcoat with golden cove line and red coaming stripe.
• Awlgrip paint system on all exterior areas.
• New paint to hull and topsides – 2019.
• Underwater hull stripped, re-epoxy and Speedy Veneziani finish – 2018.
• At same time the underwater hull was faired and sea cocks made flush to optimise speed.
• New teak deck with TDS caulking – 2017.
• During 2005/6 refit all existing hatches were replaced with Rondal flush hatches.

Keel & Rudder:

• Carbon reinforcement in skeg – 2021.

Note: From the recent Ocean Globe Race and as known from earlier Whitbread Races, there was a potential “weak spot” regarding the skeg of the 65 when very hard pressed. Please note that: -

Regarding the skeg on VENATOR it has had major strengthening in current ownership. They found that the foam core had become waterlogged, so it was completely cleaned out and dried 100%. Then two carbon fibre tangs were created and fitted into the void as well as attached to the stringers. The void was then resin filled so that there can be no water Ingress. It is consequently superbly strong and should have a long and strong life ahead of it.

Engine & Gearboxes:

• Steyr 126 hp turbo marine diesel engine – new in 2008, incl. gearbox.
• M 16 TC M / MO126K28, 6 cylinder with PRM type 750 with flexible Aquadrive coupling.
• New CPU 2015.
• New Micro Commander control 2020.
• During the refit there was a complete re-build of the engine room area and all new systems / wiring, insulation, sound proof hatch, etc.
• Engine was out of the yacht and had a full workshop rebuild including improved wet exhaust system – 2021.

Maintenance & Performance:

• Engine hours approx. 2,000 (clock was not replaced / zeroed when new engine was installed in 2008 – which replaced “old” one from 2006).
• Annual out of water maintenance programme and full Nautor recommended maintenance schedule, plus extra desired items.

Propulsion & Steering:

• Three blade Max Prop feathering propeller.

Bow Thruster:

• Max power VIP Series 150 duo electric, retractable – new 2005/6 in refit.
• Rebuilt 2019 with OEM replacement parts as required.
• Push button controls at helm. 
• New controller 2015.

Voltage Systems:

• All new wiring in 2005/6 refit, done by Floattech, Holland.
• PLC system throughout.
• New AC/DC switchboards hidden by teak doors on starboard outboard, next to navigation bench.
• In overhaul and upgrade of electrical systems in 2015 all systems were checked, and serviced/replaced as required.

Battery Banks:

• 2 x Banks of 400Ahr each Lithium LiFePo4 Victron cells (Lithium Smart 25.6V – 200A each) domestic batteries – new 2025.
• Main engine and generator start batteries, 12V.

Battery Chargers:

• New Mastervolt charging system – 2022.
• Victron chargers – new 2015.
• Mastervolt inverter – new 2015.

• The original Nautor teak interior marine architecture is unique to VENATOR and represented a significant Nautor upgrade commissioned in 1974.
