Boat Details
Description
A Dutch dry goods sailing barge launched in 1901 in Mijdrecht, Netherlands. Brought to the UK in 1999 and converted to a high standard over almost 2 decades. She offers a full height, spacious comfortable home with many quality features and all modern appliances but with the added benefits of an off-grid river cruising life if desired. Hardwood floors and woodwork, vintage cast iron radiators, wood burners and a main saloon space cleverly divided by bespoke shelving units all contribute to a unique aesthetic.
An IVECO 150hp 6 cylinder engine with Halyard 2030 Aqua Drive, twin bilge keels and a stern prop tube allow for responsive handling despite her size. Dry docked in 2018 and 2023 at BJ Woods Isleworth for a full survey, propeller refurbish and re-black guarantees the hull's integrity and demonstrates the owner's commitment to preserving this classic vessel's future. She was also re-blacked again in early 2025 at Harleyford Marina with the new 55 tonnes lift providing another future option for survey in the Thames Valley.
A summer mooring on the idyllic Culden Fawley river meadow at the top of the Henley Regatta course is available by negotiation. Winter options are also available at Sonning or Harleyford, again by negotiation.

Owner's Thoughts/Known Faults
There are no known faults that haven't been addressed. The current owner's truly regret the decision to sell but ill health and increasing family responsibilities in Somerset mean forgoing the peaceful, classic sanctuary that the beloved Maria Christina has always offered. It is our strong desire that a new owner can have the opportunity to fully appreciate this lovely boating home for all that it represents.
