Description
We offer the Groninger clipper Bracksand from 1899 (approximately 35 x 6 meters) which has been almost completely rebuilt and renovated, including a completely new and thick underwater hull, including bilges, keel, and a large part of the deck. The cargo hold of the Bracksand was completely renovated in 2019 and is very well insulated for accommodating groups during trips, but can easily be transformed into, for example, a luxurious houseboat. In 2023, the certification was extended until 2028 for 54 day guests and 28 overnight guests.
Layout
From the large seating area on deck, you descend via a spacious staircase into the day room. Here, the height (hull) of the ship is immediately noticeable, thanks to the spacious kitchen and generous living room. Towards the fore ship, you pass 4 spacious four-person cabins, each with its own bathroom. Towards the rear, there are 4 two-person cabins, with a shared bathroom and toilet.
In the wheelhouse, there is a studio available, with its own sleeping area and bathroom. Under the foredeck, there is a spacious storage area for the sailing wardrobe, etc.
Technology
The underwater hull, including the bottom, frames, and bilges, has been completely replaced with 8mm steel, and the other steelwork has been thoroughly addressed with hydrojet and sigma paint system. In 2019, the renovation of the hold began with sustainable materials, and it has been solidly thermally/acoustically insulated with 60mm stone wool (between frames) + 50mm laminate ceiling with aluminum foil. Thanks to the ventilation system with heat recovery unit, there is continuous fresh air supply with limited heat demand and little to no condensation. Heating is provided by underfloor heating with bamboo flooring, which delivers high efficiency, a pleasant indoor climate, and forms a sustainable whole.
Besides the main mast and mizzen, the entire rigging including standing/running rigging and round wood is completely new. The CBB has been extended until April 2028 as of April 2023. The additional inspection, conducted last spring 2024 by the ILenT, was passed with flying colors, and the Proof of Rigging is valid until March 2027.
History
The Bracksand was built in 1899 in Hoogezand under the name Souza. The ship has served in the Wadden Sea and Sound navigation and primarily sailed to Denmark. As a cargo ship, it had a tonnage of 281 tons. In 1974, the ship was purchased under the name Bracksand from freight shipping by Van der Werff and restored and rigged to its original state. In 1991, the ship was sold and has operated as a day trip ship from Zierikzee. Since 2016, it has been in the hands of the current owner.
Berth possibly
There is possibly a berth at the Durgerdammerdijk available for takeover, equipped with electricity (220v + 380v), water point, and sewage. There is the possibility to connect water and fiber optic. The rent from the Rijk vastgoedbedrijf (municipality of Amsterdam) is € 9,- per m2 per year. A jetty/deck barge of max. 80m2 can possibly be created at the berth, as part of the access. The permit - for the clipper Bracksand at this berth - is transferable.
