Westerly - Griffon
1979- successor to the incredibly successful Westerly Centuar, the Ed Dubois designed Griffon became extremely sought-after almost immediately after she was first launched. This yacht has been in the same ownership for the past 18 years, now retiring. She sleeps up to 6 in 2 cabins -- double and single in the saloon, 2 further berths in the forecabin and 1 in the port-side quarterberth. The saloon has a large dining table which folds completely away against the bulkhead. Eberspacher diesel cabin heating. Separate heads compartment with Jabsco sea toilet. Cabin headlining fully replaced. She was re-engined in 2009 with a Beta Marine 20HP 3-cylinder diesel engine. Extensive inventory (download for full details).

Beta marine 3-cylinder 20 HP diesel engine, fitted in 2009, fresh water cooled with 607 engine hours. Vetus 140 seawater inlet strainer (2013). Shaft drive to 3-bladed propeller with "Stripper" rope cutter. Single lever cockpit controls.
Pushpit, pulpit and guardwires. Navigation lights. Steaming light. Manual & electric bilge pumps. Horse-shoe life buoy. Danbuoy. Radar reflector.
Sails and Rig
Sloop rigged with Kemp anodised aluminium spars. Slab reefed mainsail by Lapthorn (well used). Furlex frling gear (2009) with new genoa (new 2014, unused). Spare genoa (well used). 2 x Lewmar 30 twin-speed sheet winches. 2 x Lewmar 10 single speed coachroof halyard winches with EasiLock Mini clutches. Standing rigging replaced in 2000.
Sleeps up to 6 in 2 cabins with teak interior joinery. Saloon with large central fold-down dining table, two single settee berths (or one single and one double). Quarterberth to port. Galley with 2-burner gas cooker and grill. Stainless steel sink with manual pumped cold water. Powered fridge (2000). Forecabin vee-berth and infill cushions. Separate heads compartment with sea toilet.
S/s pulpit & pushpit. Aluminuim stanchions. Blue sprayhood by Quay Sails (2007) with s/s grab-rail. Boom cover. Boarding ladder. Outboard bracket. Cockpit cushions. 25lb CQR anchor with 3m chain attached and 70m spare chain. Many warps and fenders.
This boat has been owned by the vendors since spring 1997. Kept at Poole and sailed regularly the south coast between Chichester and Falmouth as well as across the Channel to Cherbourg, the Channel Islands and Brittany. Now ashore at Poole.
