Sydney - 40
This Sydney 40 is a semi custom Race boat that is a heavily modified and tuned racing yacht based on a very fast hull. Designed at the outset as a state-of-the-art grand prix racing yacht, the result is an exciting, high-performance, versatile boat. In our opinion, this particular boat is in very good condition and had a new IRC keel(2012) and modified rudder(2013) as well as a brand new Selden Mast (2014) moved aft to increase J. These additions make this boat a very competitive racer. The keel achieves max righting moment for the hull structures and makes the boat 5-10 seconds faster per mile than other Sydney 40. The rig and rigging has been completely overhauled & she comes with a comprehensive sail wardrobe. She will be available for viewing July 2014 in Southampton.

The Sydney 40 was constructed by premium builder Sydney yachts as a Kevlar and Epoxy sandwich with a corecell core. She is a very strong boat built for offshore racing.
The interior has been kept ‘race boat’ simple and is designed for lightweight and offshore racing comfort. The settee-backs swing up from their normal position to form rigid bottom ‘swing’ cots; very functional storage bins are built into the backside of these berths. The navigation station is incorporated into the aft portion of the engine box just behind the companionway, providing a dry and highly functional site for today’s computer-based navigation.

This Sydney 40 in our opinion, is an impressive and proven grand prix racer with a very fast hull. With recent adaptations including a new keel, rudder & mast she is geared for competitive racing & her hull has been professionally faired and sanded to 600 grit. We are told she is highly competitive and offers an exciting & exhilarating experience for her crew. She has the added benefit of being currently MCA Cat 2 Coded allowing the ability for her to be chartered, subject to her new owner obtaining the necessary permissions and passing inspection. She has an impressive sail wardrobe included with the sale. In the past, she has successfully completed the Fast Net race. Outside of her racing ability, we would consider the condition of this boat to be described as very good. Her accommodation is simple but comfortable & lightweight for racing purposes and she has the ability to accommodate upto 10 Crew.
If you are looking for a competitive race boat with a comprehensive sail wardrobe this Sydney 40 is a must for viewing. She is currently lying in Southampton & viewing can be arranged through Aspire Boat Sales.
