X-Yachts - X-99
Express Train was taken ashore a number of years ago for a refit only partially completed. With a little more work a new owner will have an excellent cruiser racer in commission.
A replacement main mast from Nordic spars is available in addition to the original mast. The standing rigging was replaced by Dickies of Bangor, and some of the running rigging has also been replaced. A new folding propeller has been fitted.
Express Train comes with a comprehensive sail wardrobe. At least one of each size has had little use and is in good or very good condition. The set of sails comprises:
3 x Main sails by Sanders /Diamond; 4 x no1 Genoas by banks/Diamond/Relling; 1 x no2 Genoa by Sanders; 2 x no3 Genoas by Diamond/Relling; 2 x no4 Jib by North/Diamond; 1 x Storm jib by Island; 3 x Spinnakers by Relling/Banks.
There are a total of 8 berths available in two cabins, two in the fore cabin which also has the heads, two in the saloon with pilot berths above and a further in in the aft accommodation. The saloon has a removable table, the galley area is situated to port with a navigation table to starboard.
The X-99 is a high performance cruiser-racer designed by Niels Jepperson and built by X Yachts in Denmark. They are sailed as a one design cruiser-racer class across Europe and farther afield.
With an easily driven hull and fractional rig they are very fast and rewarding boats to sail. Alternatively by reefing the main sail and locking off the running backstays, she transforms into an ideal cruising rig easily manageable with a small crew or even single handed, being very seaworthy and extremely capable offshore.
