The NEW Ferretti 870 is the successor to the Ferretti 830, one of the most successful Ferretti boats ever built. No mean feat to take the Ferretti 830 one step ahead but the collaboration between Studio Zuccon International, Advanced Yacht Technology and the Centro Stile Ferretti Group has managed to succesfully achieve this.
The new aggressive design of the Ferretti 870 is characterised by the bronze roof above the wheelhouse and large windows on the main deck and in the hull giving the boat a much more modern feel. The Ferretti 870 has kept unchanged all the strengths of its predecessor, particularly the rational space arrangement. However, the exterior design has been improved considerably, drawing inspiration from the brand's most recent models and by exploiting the longer superstructure to the fullest - a solution which has also allowed Ferreti to radically modify the interior layout, to the benefit of onboard space and comfort.
The hull in particular features not only two large open view windows at the master cabins level, but also large opening portholes in the guest cabins and two windows in the fore VIP cabin, resulting in extraordinary indoor brightness and offering wonderful views. It almost feels as though you could touch the water.
Changing a timeless style which has worked for so many years was not an easy decision to take. However, with the Ferretti 870, Ferretti decided to make a bold move away from their signature light woods and embrace a darker walnut stained oak wood contrasted by light leathers which still give the interior the feeling of space and light.
A new layout has been chosen for this real full-beam master suite with a stunning ensuite. The position of the head and the walk-in wardrobe, behind the bed, considerably increases noiselessness, since the cabin is now separated from the engine room by these rooms, a soundproof partition and the tanks. Moreover, to ensure improved comfort and privacy, the crew quarters have been located aft, beyond the engine room, which the crew can now also access directly. Her layout accommodates eight guests in a full-beam master, a VIP, a double and a twin cabin. A unique single access to all cabins allows more privacy for your VIP guests.
The 'Ernestomeda' designed galley and the helm station have been extensively modified too. The pilot house, featuring a new design, is now located on the right, a solution which provides easier access to the galley which can now also be accessed by from the outside, thanks to a door along the port side deck which can be used by the crew in order not to cross the saloon.
The increased length of the Ferretti 870 can be immediately perceived in the cockpit, which is so wide it can really be considered as an outdoor lounge with extended lounge seating, large teak dining table seating six/eight with the addition of a wetbar normally seen in much larger yachts.
An overall length of 26.5m in conjunction with an improved general arrangement gives the Ferretti 870 far more volume.
The Ferretti 870 is powered by twin 1,948hp MTU 12V 2000M94 engines giving an impressive top speed of 30.5 knots, a cruising speed of 27 knots and a range of 360 nautical miles at cruising speed.
The first model of the Ferretti 870 series will be presented in Spring 2012.
