Thames Sailing Barge, charter vessel, house boat, live aboard, office. Lady Daphne built in 1923 by Short Bros Ltd. She was sold in 1996 to her present company who have undertaken a massive restoration program, this has included bow being replaced,a new mast, sailing beams, aft head ledge on fore hatch, all keel bolts being replaced, the whole bottom being recovered and respiked. All this work has been undertaken whilst building up a successful Charter Business, as well as racing competitively in her class in the East and South Coast Barge Matches.
The Lady Daphne has been kept up to and above the exacting standards required by the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) (formally the Department of Transport) to hold a Class V & Class VI passenger license to carry 55 persons (plus crew). The Lady Daphne is used for corporate and company entertainment both at sea and alongside.
During her Winter 2010 refit,she had much of her port side replanked.
Winter 2011-2012 refit she had the galley and the heads, removed and replaced with new.
She worked for the whole 2013 season after Wintering within St Katharine's Dock, London. March will be spent refitting and recoding her for the 2014 season, at the Barge yard in Kent.
Focsle forward with 4 bunks and large floor area, Large Galley capable of catering for upto 100 people, 8 ring cooker double oven, large comercial stainless sinks and drainers, crockery and stowages for 80 persons, two flushing domestic toilets with showers replaced Winter 2011-12, Owners cabin with double bunk. A huge saloon with a Bar and raised stage entrance floor, large Sofa beds, dining tables and seating (60). Skipper's cabin aft.
