BROKER’S COMMENTS
This Sparkman & Stephens Ketch was built in 1971 by Cantiere Carlini di Rimini, a yard famous for their impeccable workmanship. She has always been under Italian ownership, and remained with her 3rd owner since 1984 - this boat is beautifully original, and even slight alterations have been referred to the Sparkman & Stephens office in New York.
If you combine the S&S office at the top of its game with one of the best wooden boat yards in Italy, then ANTHOS is the result … it would be true to say they do not make them like this anymore.
ANTHOS was designed for a large family to cruise in total comfort – with 8/9 proper berths in four separate cabins, not to mention the separate crew accommodation forward with its own heads and another two berths.
Forget gentlemen’s clubs … think more 1970s Hotel Splendido: this yacht’s interior is teak throughout with elegant touches in terms of upholstery and fittings – it does leave you wondering why modern yacht interiors often look like they are trying too hard.
Signor Frers commented, and not so long ago, that ANTHOS was possibly the most beautiful yacht in Portofino that afternoon … was he hinting that he may well have been working at the offices of S&S in New York at the time the boat was drawn, or did he have a point?
ANTHOS almost defines what a family cruising boat should look like and sail like. The Olin Stephens' factor is overwhelming, both in terms of beauty and balance.
She can comfortably sleep 11!
